CERIS DRS discussion on Multihazards disaster risk management, including cascading effect

Dear CoU members,

As you know, with the current sanitary crisis, we all had to adapt to new ways of (tele)working and we succeeded to develop the Horizon Europe Work Programme, the new framework programme for research and innovation, in the different areas of the Civil Security for Society programme which is due to be adopted in Spring. In the meantime, discussions about objectives and governance needs of the Community of Users have taken place, which has led to a more ambitious framework under a new name “Community of European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS)”, the implementation of which will be based on various events and objectives that will be explained in events organised by the 5 Thematic Areas of the programme (namely Infrastructure Protection (INFRA – managed together with DG CNECT), Disaster-Resilient Societies (DRS), Fight Against Crime and Terrorism (FCT), Border Management (BM) and Strengthened Security Research and Innovation (SSRI).

As a follow-up of the five fruitful meetings on Societal Resilience (10/02), Technologies for First Responders (24/02), support to Sendai implementation (10/03), Climate Extreme Events (30/03) and Cross-sectorial networking with practitioners and policymakers (21/04) in the DRS Thematic Area held under the “Community of European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS)”, succeeding to the CoU, DG HOME is organising in close cooperation with DG RTD, a sixth CERIS virtual event focusing on Multihazards disaster risk management, including cascading effect. The workshop will take place on the 05th of May 2021 from 10h to 12h30 CET via a Webex platform hosted by our contractor MCI. If you are interested and want to attend the discussion, we invite you to register and find the agenda here. For your information, this meeting will be limited to 120 participants.

Rest assure that 2021 will offer plenty of meetings, discussions, and workshop opportunities.

Kindest regards,

CERIS Events Secretariat
